Vineyard Networks co-founder and president Jason Richards calls NetCore On Demand “network monitoring Fisher-Price™ style.” If customers want more details about something, they simply click on it and the data’s there.
The whole enchilada consists of one or more small unmanaged probes, an onsite network exploring interface and any Web browser to access the cloud-based SaaS. Administrators simply login to manage and deploy the software from the Vineyard Website. Seriously, no setup or training on the user end.
How it Works
NetCore on Demand includes an application-aware probe called NetView. You install the device in-line or off a span port at your site. At sign-up you provide an IP address and the gateway address on your network. Vineyard Networks configures the hardware probe to monitor that environment.
A secure SSL connects you to Vineyard’s NetCore server. Immediately, you see WAN and LAN connections, Layer 7 service information, application traffic across networks and response time metrics. The probe and service work together to collect network packet data (like Cisco’s NetFlow) about every 60 seconds and stores it for two years to set benchmarks and historical perspective.
